A living language. A wider community.

PHP moves forward.
People make
it happen.

Frameworks, tools, companies and communities keep PHP moving. Explore the ecosystem they build — and how to support the language itself.

POWERED BY COMMUNITY

69.2%

of websites whose server-side language is known use PHP.

W3Techs,

Reach is one part of the story. The projects and founding members below show who builds with PHP and helped establish support for its core.

01 / BUILDING WITH PHP

More than a language.
An ecosystem.

Products, tools and infrastructure reveal what PHP makes possible today. A place here does not imply funding for PHP core.

Framework & tools

Laravel

A PHP framework for building web applications, with an ecosystem that now includes dedicated tools for AI-assisted development.

Framework & components

Symfony

A full-stack PHP framework and a set of reusable components that also power other projects across the ecosystem.

Package ecosystem

Composer

The dependency manager that connects PHP projects with the libraries they build on.

Local development

DDEV

An open-source, Docker-based local environment for PHP projects, with support for Laravel, Symfony, Drupal and more.

Desktop & mobile apps

NativePHP

Takes PHP and Laravel applications beyond the browser, with desktop windows and mobile device capabilities.

APIs & headless systems

API Platform

Builds web APIs with features including REST, GraphQL and generated documentation, with Symfony and Laravel integrations.

Product interfaces

Filament

A Laravel-based UI framework for building admin panels, dashboards and forms with PHP.

Application server

FrankenPHP

A modern server for running PHP applications, with worker mode and automatic HTTPS. Built in Go for PHP.

02 / FUNDING THE CORE

The names
that started it.

Using PHP and funding its development are different things. These ten organisations founded The PHP Foundation in 2021. Founding membership is a historical role, not a claim that every member sponsors it today. The Foundation funds developers who maintain and advance the language; PHP itself remains community-owned.

03 / BACK THE LANGUAGE

The work behind
the next release.

The PHP Foundation funds developers who work on the language itself. Its 2025 impact report gives a concrete view of that work — from maintenance and security fixes to new features.

Donations go through the Foundation’s official channels. phpfuture does not collect payments.

04 / FIND YOUR PEOPLE

Find your people.
Keep building.

PHP moves forward through people who meet, share and build together. Find a place to join in.

Meet locally

Find PHP user groups and framework meetups near you, from local community nights to official Symfony events.
